Position Summary
Provide operational leadership to warehouse and logistics associates and hourly workers.
Ensure daily deliveries, trailer loading and unloading, cross-docking, and customer service meet company service and cost objectives.
Supervise workforce and equipment scheduling, corrective action, hiring support, and customer meetings.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, generally 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with hours varying according to business needs.
People Leadership
- Communicate specific and measurable performance standards.
- Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance, and provide counseling or recognition as needed.
Operations
- Supervise customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, documentation, and procedure control.
- Recommend work-method changes to improve warehouse and dispatch productivity.
- Assist with new-associate training and provide operational coverage during absences.
- Use site operating systems to ensure compliance and resolve exceptions.
- Complete required records and reports accurately and on time.
Finance and Safety
- Maintain inventory accuracy and control, including returns and damages.
- Manage associate hours and activities to limit overtime and meet productivity targets.
- Ensure daily activities align with safety strategy and applicable regulatory and company requirements.
- Provide safety communication, training, feedback, and direction.
Customer and Fleet Operations
- Understand location-specific customer goals and help meet customer objectives.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet and warehouse equipment.
- Ensure associates understand safe and efficient equipment operation.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of related functional experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills are required.
- Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills are required.
- Regular, predictable full attendance is essential.
- Willingness to travel as necessary and work at the specified location and schedule is required.
Physical Requirements
- The role requires reading, verbal and written communication, information analysis, and understanding instructions.
- The associate may stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus are required.
