Objective
Conduct economic analyses and provide technical advice to support decision-making in the Department of Finance.
Essential duties
- Conduct macroeconomic and project-level economic analyses to guide public policy and decisions.
- Build and run economic and financial-market models for forecasting, impact measurement, and cost estimation.
- Introduce current econometric, machine-learning, artificial-intelligence, and other advanced modeling approaches.
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Monitor local, regional, and global economic developments and provide critical summaries to decision-makers.
- Provide technical economics advice to sector employees.
Experience and qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent in Economics or an adjacent field such as policy, finance, or data science.
- Experience in finance ministries, central banks, international economic organizations, economic consulting, or banking focused on economic modeling is most relevant.
Technical skills
- Economic modeling expertise may include econometrics, macroeconomic flow-of-funds models, input-output models, and general equilibrium models.
- Machine learning is useful.
- General coding skills are required, with Python preferred.
