Assists pool manager, or in the absence of pool manager, is responsible for all facilities and personnel at a municipal swimming pool; supervises the opening and closing of the pool and maintenance of sanitary and safe conditions; enforces all rules and regulations, maintains discipline; anticipates hazardous conditions and takes precautionary measures; rescues swimmers in distress; renders first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; trains lifeguards; organizes and conducts swimming meets; instructs or assists in instructing classes in diving, swimming and lifesaving; tests water, checks equipment; maintains required attendance, financial records and reports; prepares staff work schedules; organizes and conducts special aquatic programs, classes, and swim and diving meets; drives on City business.

Education/Training: Graduation from high school and one season's experience as a lifeguard and instructor. NOTE: One season is equivalent to 320 working hours. Special Conditions & Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment. Must be in good physical condition. License & Certificates: A valid California Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent, a valid First Aid Certificate which meets Emergency Medical Service Authority requirements, a valid Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate, and a valid Lifeguard Certificate from authorized providers, as determined by the Management Services department, at time of appointment. Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Communicable Disease Certificates from authorized providers, as determined by the Management Services department, within two weeks of appointment.
