Senior Front-End UI/UX Engineer

Role Overview

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain accessible interfaces for enterprise applications built on ASP.NET MVC 5.
• Translate business requirements, user needs, and design concepts into intuitive, maintainable, production-ready experiences.
• Apply UI/UX principles including information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, usability, and responsive design.
• Implement and validate accessibility against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and Section 508 requirements.
• Use semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard navigation, focus management, and accessibility best practices.
• Test interfaces with assistive technologies and screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
• Develop and support full-stack .NET applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC 5, SQL Server, and Microsoft technologies.
• Build front-end integrations with RESTful APIs and internal or external systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and documentation, maintain unit tests, and support QA and release activities.
• Troubleshoot UI and cross-browser issues, collaborate on design reviews and audits, and improve legacy front-end components.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Five to eight or more years of professional software development experience with significant front-end and UI development.
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Demonstrated UI/UX knowledge covering information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, usability, responsive design, and user-centered design.
• Hands-on accessibility experience with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, Section 508, ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and assistive technologies.
• Strong proficiency in C# and ASP.NET MVC 5 within Windows-based full-stack .NET applications.
• Microsoft SQL Server experience including database design, data modeling, T-SQL, stored procedures, and views.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, computer science principles, and software engineering practices.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, unit testing, QA collaboration, usability testing, accessibility validation, releases, and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to analyze requirements, troubleshoot UI and cross-browser issues, and deliver reliable solutions with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with DevExpress UI components and reporting tools is preferred.
• UX, accessibility, human-centered design, or IAAP CPACC/WAS training or certification is advantageous.
• Experience with usability testing, accessibility audits, design reviews, or design-to-development workflows is a plus.
• Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, Agile/Scrum, Git, CI/CD, automated deployments, or legacy .NET modernization is advantageous.
• Experience with financial aid, student information systems, higher-education data, or related enterprise applications is desirable.
