Responsibilities
- Design complete EV powertrain architecture including motor selection and power flow
- Design and integrate battery systems including sizing, configuration, enclosure, cooling, and safety
- Select and configure Battery Management Systems (BMS) for cell balancing, SOC, SOH, and protection
- Integrate motor controllers, inverters, DC/DC converters, contactors, and HV junction boxes
- Produce wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, power distribution diagrams, and HV/LV architecture
- Build prototype EVs, commission systems, diagnose faults, and perform testing
- Handle technical procurement of motors, batteries, controllers, BMS, connectors, and HV cables
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in EV Powertrain Engineering
- Independently delivered complete EV projects
- Hands on experience with lithium ion battery packs and LiFePO4 batteries
- Experience with BMS selection, configuration, and diagnostics
- Ability to independently select BLDC, PMSM, or AC Induction motors
- Experience with motor controllers, inverters, DC/DC converters, and HV systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design tools
- Experience with prototype development, testing, and commissioning

About the Role
- We are looking for an experienced EV Powertrain Engineer to lead electrical architecture and powertrain development of electric go karts and prototype electric vehicles.
- The role is based in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is not a wiring harness design role.
- The candidate must have independently completed EV projects from concept through testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design complete EV powertrain architecture including motor selection and power flow.
- Design and integrate battery systems: sizing, configuration, enclosure, cooling, safety, and BMS.
- Select and configure Battery Management Systems (BMS) for cell balancing, SOC, SOH, thermal protection, over current protection, high voltage safety, and diagnostics.
- Select traction motors (BLDC, PMSM, AC Induction) based on vehicle weight, speed, torque, acceleration, duty cycle, and track conditions.
- Integrate motor controllers, inverters, DC/DC converters, contactors, HV junction boxes, and pre charge circuits.
- Produce wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, power distribution diagrams, HV & LV architecture, fuse calculations, cable sizing, and connector selection.
- Build prototype EVs, commission systems, diagnose faults, perform testing, and improve vehicle performance.
- Handle technical procurement of motors, batteries, controllers, BMS, connectors, HV cables, and electrical components; evaluate suppliers.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in EV Powertrain Engineering.
- Experience with Electric Vehicles, Electric Go Karts, Electric Motorcycles, Electric Racing Vehicles, or Electric Utility Vehicles.
- Preferred software: AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Siemens Capital, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium, CATIA, NX, LTspice.
- Must have independently delivered complete EV projects, selected motors, designed battery systems, configured BMS, selected controllers and inverters, calculated battery capacity and range, worked with HV systems, performed prototype testing, and worked directly with suppliers.
- Candidates with primarily wiring harness design, electrical drafting, automotive electrical maintenance, or similar roles are not suitable.
