Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering
- 10 or more years of experience in the power industry
- Experience in independent engineering and due diligence services for power projects
- Experience in power project development
- Experience in conventional energy and/or renewable construction management
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Experience writing technical reports and proposals
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
- Project planning and leadership skills

Role Overview
- This role offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days a week in the office, two days remote.
- Position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting Group supporting continued growth in renewable energy, battery energy storage, and utility planning/advisory practice areas.
- Requires face to face interaction with power plant developers, owners, lenders, and investors.
Services Provided
- Technical consulting and advisory services to power project developers to support new utility scale solar, wind, gas, battery energy storage, and other projects.
- Independent engineering and due diligence services for lenders and investors to evaluate the financing of new power and infrastructure projects.
- Technical, economic, and market studies for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies.
- Planning studies and business case development for utilities, independent power producers, and government agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered).
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) is a plus.
- 10 or more years of experience in the power industry, including one or more of: independent engineering and due diligence services for power projects; power project development; conventional energy and/or renewable construction management; experience in project finance or financial modeling of power

- Leaders often direct automation and process improvement work, e.g., automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, or generating design documentation.
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks is valued but not required.
- Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued.
