Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of Electrical design (power, lighting, ELV, and fire alarm systems) across multiple building projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use), ensuring quality, timeliness, and profitability.
- Manage the full electrical design process from concept to detailed design, tender documentation, and construction supervision support.
- Take full accountability for discipline deliverables (quality, time, and coordination)
- Identify and reduce rework and abortive design effort
- Apply structured QA/QC procedures and discipline checklists
- Take proactive ownership of coordination with other disciplines
- Coordinate with the Head of MEP Section to define project requirements, review scope, and approve resource allocation, work hours, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and review detailed electrical drawings, load calculations, and technical documentation in compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations, and international standards to support approvals and tendering.
- Ensure quality control of all electrical design deliverables and enforce QA/QC procedures throughout the design phase.
- Review and approve all electrical drawings, reports, and technical submissions prior to issuance.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, structural, architectural, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free designs.
- Participate in resource planning and allocation, ensuring optimal utilization of engineers and draftsmen across projects.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of electrical engineers and draftsmen, identifying training needs and supporting their professional development.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to the team and other departments when required.
- Monitor and support construction supervision activities, including periodic site visits, reviewing contractor submittals, and ensuring compliance with approved designs and specifications.
- Track project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure smooth project execution and approvals.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal support, estimation of design hours, and technical input for new projects.
- Following and abiding by all work instructions identified by the supervisor and ALSUWEIDI Management.
- Strictly abide by all rules, regulations, and procedures that ALSUWEIDI Management implements.
Requirements
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEng) are a plus.
- Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in electrical design within MEP projects, with at least 3–5 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in building projects (residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use developments).
- Experience in a design consultancy environment is required, not limited to contractor/site roles
- Experience in GCC or similar regulatory environments is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in electrical systems design, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, ELV, and fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of Revit/BIM and coordination tools.
- Solid understanding of local authority regulations, international codes, and standards (IEC, BS, NFPA, etc.).
- Strong experience in load calculations, voltage drop, short circuit, and cable sizing.
- Good design coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong project management skills including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ability to review and approve technical documents with high attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project is an advantage.
