The Senior Director will provide strategic leadership for Cell Reports Methods by Cell Press.
The role leads the journal’s vision, editorial direction, growth, and methodological standards.
Workplace and Schedule
- This is a part-time hybrid role based in Abu Dhabi.
- The role balances on-site responsibilities with remote work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee editorial policies and guide content development.
- Maintain high standards of methodological rigor and reproducibility.
- Evaluate and refine the journal’s portfolio.
- Engage with the scientific community and build partnerships.
- Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Lead initiatives improving author, reviewer, and reader experience.
- Mentor editorial staff and represent the journal at conferences and events.
- Ensure alignment with Cell Press’s mission and values.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree, such as a PhD or equivalent, in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Strong track record of research or methodological development.
- Experience in scholarly publishing, editorial leadership, or journal management.
- Strategic planning, decision-making, communication, relationship-building, and data analysis skills.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to robust, reproducible, and accessible research practices.
- International experience and familiarity with global scientific communities and open access publishing models are highly beneficial.
