Role Overview
The Senior Database Administrator is a hands-on senior technical role responsible for enterprise Microsoft SQL Server reliability, availability, security, performance, recoverability, and lifecycle management.
The role owns SQL Server 2019 and later environments across development, QA, staging, reporting, and production workloads.
A minimum of seven years of database administration experience is required.
Database Operations
- Administer, monitor, tune, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot SQL Server environments.
- Own database integrity, availability, backups, restores, disaster recovery, and recurring recovery testing.
- Analyze execution plans, indexes, statistics, waits, memory, tempdb, storage, blocking, deadlocks, and concurrency.
- Create maintenance standards covering consistency checks, backups, jobs, retention, and capacity.
High Availability and Security
- Implement and support Always On Availability Groups and appropriate failover architectures.
- Administer least-privilege access, role-based permissions, encryption, auditing, service-account governance, and access reviews.
