Overview

  • Carnegie Mellon University is a private, global research university.
  • Computing Services central IT division seeks a Senior Data Analyst focusing on Power BI and cross functional systems.
  • The role supports data initiatives, eliminating data silos and developing data products for informed decision making.

Core Responsibilities

  • Partner with multi functional teams to document and design data products.
  • Create and manage data products (datasets, semantic models, dashboards).
  • Support usage of enterprise data technologies (Snowflake, Power BI, DBT).
  • Facilitate requirements capturing within various domains.
  • Lead creation of functional and technical specifications.
  • Develop understanding of data sources and structures; assist in integrations.
  • Participate in and define test scenarios and strategies for data products.
  • Lead process for gathering business requirements for data product solutions.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Business process analysis skills, particularly within cross functional domains.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understanding of structured and unstructured data.
  • Proficiency in SQL query language.
  • Experience in DAX query language.
  • Experience in Data Modeling.
  • Understanding of various systems (Workday, Oracle Financials, other higher education systems).
  • Experience with DBT is a plus.
  • Experience with data pipeline optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5 8 years of relevant work experience required.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Successful background check.

  • Hybrid schedule with on campus/in office presence 3 days a week.
