Responsibilities
- Lead feasibility studies, procurement strategy development, and contract selection, including preparation of detailed procurement reports
- Apply value management techniques at project inception to optimise cost, scope, and overall project value
- Manage estimating and cost planning activities, taking ownership of and presenting comprehensive final cost plans
- Oversee the full procurement lifecycle, including prequalification, tendering, bid analysis, contractor selection, and contract preparation
- Supervise preparation and execution of contract documentation (warranties, bonds, licences) and provide expert advice on contract administration
- Manage cost control processes, including valuations, cost checking, monthly reporting, and identification of cost impacts from variations and design changes
- Evaluate contractor claims for delays and additional costs, ensure accurate certification (practical completion, defects, final accounts), and close out processes
- Lead and develop cost consultancy teams, manage senior stakeholders, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support net zero carbon objectives through proactive cost and carbon management
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience delivering full life cycle cost management services on large projects, including post contract commercial management
- A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent)
- Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent)
- Detailed knowledge of most forms of contract

Role Overview
