Senior CAD Technician - Electrical

Role Overview

Experience and Education

• 8–12 years of experience in basic and detailed electrical engineering design for power and water projects.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant owner or detailed engineering experience, preferably in a large-project engineering consultancy.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Hands-on experience with EPC or consultancy design deliverables in the Middle East.

Standards and Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in utility standards such as DEWA and TRANSCO.
• Exposure to IEC, US, Euro, or other foreign codes and standards.
• Experience in detailed design roles for Middle East power and water projects is desirable.
• AutoCAD 2D drafting is mandatory; MicroStation is also identified as a drafting and modeling tool.

Electrical Drafting and Design

• Deliver electrical equipment and systems designs for power and water projects.
• Prepare substation single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and equipment layouts.
• Prepare cable routing, trench, earthing, and lightning protection layouts.
• Prepare control and protection schematics.

Coordination and Quality

• Coordinate with design engineers, project managers, site teams, and client representatives.
• Resolve drawing discrepancies and update revisions.
• Maintain drawing standards, layering, naming conventions, drawing registers, and revision control.
• Prepare client submission packages and ensure drawings meet QA/QC requirements.
• Support audits and documentation reviews.

• Strong attention to detail and good communication and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Support the electrical discipline in resolving technical questions and project work.
