The senior bridge inspector will be part of a team responsible for managing and maintaining all structures along Highway 407 ETR. This will include routine and maintenance inspections of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and overhead sign structures and completion of inspection reports including documentation on deficiencies and recommended repair options; assisting with the preparation of tenders, and inspecting the work of contractors undertaking bridge repairs and rehabilitation work; maintaining Department’s structure inventory and inspection databases.
Completion of an accredited university degree program or equivalency. Must have an ability to interpret plans and specifications, understand and accurately describe bridge components and types of bridge deterioration. The position demands a motivated self-starter with leadership qualities and excellent communication skills who can work well within a team environment to meet rigid schedules for inspection and repairs of bridges. S/he will be computer literate and conversant with any number of computer software packages. Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, especially in regards to staging, confined spaces and fall arrest systems. Knowledge of local, provincial and federal regulations is essential and a familiarity with the geographical area would be considered assets. The incumbent will be required to safely work on bridges and sign structures at high heights and over water and or traffic.
