American Express is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I for Global Commercial Services Technology.
The role builds scalable platform services for next-generation expense management solutions serving small, medium-sized, and corporate customers.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable Golang backend services, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native systems in AWS.
- Use domain-driven and hexagonal architecture, event-driven systems, Kafka, and workflow orchestration frameworks.
- Design data systems across relational, graph, document, search, and OLAP technologies.
- Implement observability with logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, and tools such as Datadog.
- Mentor engineers, participate in architecture reviews, establish standards, plan delivery, and communicate with stakeholders.
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years of backend-focused software engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong Golang and AWS experience with distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
- Experience with domain-driven design, modern architecture, data storage technologies, and CockroachDB.
- Experience with Camunda or Temporal, observability, monitoring, performance optimization, collaboration, and mentoring.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
