Role Overview
Own backend problems end to end, think from first principles, and build lean, scalable systems.
Work across team boundaries when product needs require it.
Requirements
- Bring 3–5 years of software engineering experience and strong backend fundamentals.
- Have hands-on experience with Java or JavaScript/TypeScript and production experience with Spring/Spring Boot or Node.js.
- Understand APIs, distributed systems, production-grade system design, SQL databases, and NoSQL concepts.
- Have experience with at least one cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or an equivalent platform.
- Reason about scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and cost and use AI with sound engineering judgment.
Backend Architecture
- Own backend problems from idea and design through production.
- Build maintainable, scalable architecture and evolve distributed systems, service boundaries, and communication patterns.
- Make deliberate decisions about microservices, tenancy, data isolation, partitioning, and access patterns.
Performance and Delivery
- Own backend performance through query optimization, API performance, caching, and concurrency.
