Role Overview

The Senior Automotive Painter is responsible for delivering high-quality vehicle painting and refinishing services.

The role requires advanced expertise in vehicle surface inspection, paint evaluation, and professional application of all types of automotive paints.

The painter must be capable of assessing vehicle paint conditions, identifying previous paintwork (full or partial), determining paint types, and executing superior-quality refinishing that meets industry and manufacturer standards.

Vehicle Inspection & Paint Assessment

· Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle bodies to determine paint condition and quality.

· Identify whether a vehicle has been fully repainted or partially painted.

· Detect previous bodywork, repainting, blending, or touch-up areas.

· Determine the type of paint used (solid, metallic, pearl, matte, clear coat systems).

· Use paint thickness gauges and visual inspection techniques to assess paint layers.

Surface Preparation & Refinishing

· Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, priming, and sealing.

· Repair minor surface imperfections before painting.

· Match paint colors accurately using color codes and mixing systems.

· Perform full vehicle painting, partial repainting, and panel blending as required.

· Apply basecoat, clear coat, and specialty finishes following proper procedures.

Painting Techniques & Quality Control

· Operate spray booths and painting equipment safely and efficiently.

· Apply paints using professional techniques to ensure smooth, consistent finishes.

· Ensure high-quality results free from defects such as runs, orange peel, or uneven texture.

· Conduct final inspections to verify paint quality, color consistency, and finish durability.

· Perform polishing and finishing to achieve showroom-quality results.

Materials & Equipment Management

· Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all types of automotive paints and coating systems.

· Handle, store, and mix paints according to manufacturer specifications.

· Maintain painting tools, spray guns, and equipment in proper working condition.

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Additional Responsibilities

· Advise management or service teams on paint condition reports and recommendations.

· Support body repair (denting & bodywork) teams when required.

· Maintain accurate documentation related to paint inspections and work performed.

· Stay updated on new painting technologies, materials, and refinishing methods.

· Contribute to continuous improvement in painting quality and workshop efficiency.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

· Proven experience as a Senior Automotive Painter.

· Strong expertise in automotive paint inspection and refinishing.

· Extensive knowledge of automotive paint types, systems, and color matching.

· Hands-on experience with professional spray booths and painting equipment.

· Ability to assess and identify previous paintwork accurately.
