Senior Associate, Operational Risk LMI Superannuation & Insurance

This role exists to support second line oversight of non-financial and operational risks across the Retail Australia Value Chain activities particularly on the LMI Superannuation & Insurance portfolio. It contributes to independent review, challenge and advice on risk identification, risk assessments, and control design and effectiveness across processes, systems and data where relevant. The role supports risk insight, reporting and governance activities, helps identify control weaknesses and emerging issues, and works closely with stakeholders and senior risk colleagues to promote adherence to risk and compliance frameworks. To be successful in this role you will bring sound risk judgement, strong analytical capability and a practical understanding of the Retail business environment.

As a Senior Associate, Operational Risk LMI Superannuation & Insurance, you will:

Support second line review of risks, controls and risk assessments across designated Retail value chain activities

Analyse risk information, identify themes and assist in assessing control design and control effectiveness

Provide input into risk opinions, challenge and recommendations, escalating matters where required

Maintain a risk-based focus on material issues, control weaknesses and emerging themes

Assist in assessing root cause analysis and remediation actions to determine whether underlying drivers are being addressed

Track remediation progress and highlight delivery risks, delays or concerns for further revie

Contribute ideas and observations to improve risk processes, reporting and ways of working

Demonstrate strong risk culture, sound judgement and attention to detail in day-to-day work

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Relevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, risk, law or a related discipline

Approximately 4+ years’ experience in financial services, operational risk, compliance, audit or related disciplines

Good understanding of non-financial risk frameworks, operational risk and relevant regulatory expectations

Experience supporting or performing risk assessments, control reviews, issue management, audit or assurance activities

Strong analytical capability with the ability to review evidence, identify themes and support practical recommendations

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise risk reporting and supporting papers

Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders while applying constructive challenge where appropriate

Understanding of the Retail banking environment in the designated Retail value chain activities
