Role overview
Work as a Lighting and Electrical Engineer within the Highways and Infrastructure Lighting Team.
Collaborate with international Mott MacDonald offices, primarily supporting UK-based projects.
Contribute to design development from receipt of a brief through the project lifecycle.
Technical responsibilities
- Design external, highway, amenity, and general lighting schemes using industry-standard software.
- Complete environmental lighting impact assessments within budget and timescale constraints.
- Undertake electrical design for private cable networks using Trimble ProDesign.
- Produce design drawings and schematics within BIM and 3D modelling environments.
- Assist with specifications, bills of quantities, and schedules of rates.
- Design highway and amenity lighting schemes to BS5489 and low-voltage private cable networks to BS7671.
Project delivery and teamwork
- Work on projects of varying size and scale across public and private sectors, including overseas work.
- Follow company procedures and applicable health and safety and CDM Regulations 2015 requirements.
- Assist with visual site inspections and surveys.
- Support collaborative working and respond proactively to project and technical challenges.
- Assist in achieving client satisfaction and securing repeat work.
Candidate specification
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience designing new and replacement highway and amenity lighting schemes to BS5489 and ILP guidance documents.
- Knowledge of lighting design, electrical design, and environmental lighting guidance.
- Knowledge and experience with lighting software such as Lighting Reality, DIALux, and AGI.
- Knowledge and experience using Trimble ProDesign for private cable network design.
