Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain analytical models supporting strategic and financial outcomes of the Regulated Go To Market team
- Build, enhance, and validate forecasting and scenario models for financial planning, including rate changes and sensitivity analysis
- Utilize data science methodologies to analyze and monitor KPIs, identifying trends and actionable insights
- Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives by structuring and maintaining high quality datasets
- Support preparation of regulatory applications by developing forecast assumptions and performing scenario analysis
- Develop and present written material such as reports and PowerPoint presentations
- Partner with Finance and Operations to perform monthly variance analysis of actual versus forecasted revenues and costs
Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis, business, operational effectiveness or related field
- Proficiency with analytical tools with Excel (advanced functions)
- Advanced proficiency in managing and analyzing large datasets
- Experience with data warehousing, large scale data processing, and analytics
- Exposure to machine learning techniques and their application in business decision making
- Experience with Databricks, implementing Artificial Intelligence tools and/or other data management tools
- Ability to query data using tools such as SQL, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar data platforms

Job Summary
- The Senior Alberta Regulated Business Analyst develops, maintains, and enhances analytical models supporting the Regulated Go To Market team.
- Provides advanced analytical insights to inform business decisions across key performance drivers including site counts, acquisition, retention, margin, and economic profit.
- Works within the Regulated Go To Market team, collaborating with Customer Management, Digital & Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain analytical models supporting strategic and financial outcomes of the Regulated Go To Market team.
- Build, enhance, and validate forecasting and scenario models for financial planning, including rate changes, rider calculations, and sensitivity analysis.
- Utilize data science methodologies to analyze and monitor KPIs, identifying trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
- Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives by structuring, segmenting, and maintaining high quality datasets.
- Support preparation of regulatory applications by developing forecast assumptions, performing scenario analysis, and drafting analytical components.
- Develop and present written material such as reports and PowerPoint presentations.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to perform monthly variance analysis of actual versus forecasted revenues and costs.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a combination of financial analysis, business, operational effectiveness or related field.
- Proficiency with analytical tools with Excel (advanced functions).
- Advanced proficiency in managing and analyzing large datasets.
- Experience with data warehousing, large scale data processing, and analytics, with exposure to machine learning techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference for candidates with experience within the energy industry, ideally in customer operations, finance, accounting, and/or commercial areas.
- Understanding of the Alberta regulatory utility industry.
- Experience with Databricks, implementing Artificial Intelligence tools and/or other data management tools.
Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Superior analytical and financial modeling experience, including forecasting, scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling.
- Strong ability to break down complex, ambiguous datasets into structured analyses.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with high attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to translate technical findings into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present confidently to wide ranging audience.
- Ability to build and maintain dashboards and visualization using tools like PowerBI or similar platforms.
- Ability to excel in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Strong capabilities in Word and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
- Ability to query data using tools such as SQL, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar data platforms.
- Experience working with AI tools and platforms is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Open office environment.
- 4 days a week in office and 1 day hybrid.
- Ability to work from home while remaining effective and productive.
- Some overtime required as special projects arise.
- Some travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer for long hours.
