Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Computer Science, Math or 3 years of experience in Natural Gas, Electricity and/or Renewable marketplace
- Established network of large commercial or industrial accounts within Alberta and Canada
- Strong communication and negotiating skills
- AI literate, proficient in Excel, PowerPoint
- History of exceeding assigned prospecting and sales quotas
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory

Role Overview
- Generate sales of electricity, natural gas, renewable energy and related energy services to Commercial and Industrial prospects and customers in Western Canada.
- Prospect for new business as well as manage and grow a portfolio of existing customers.
- Identify and qualify new prospects, make sales calls/visits, and sell the full value of Direct Energy’s products and services.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Accountable for delivery of agreed sales targets in terms of overall gross margin, customer numbers, and energy volumes.
- Prospect and establish a network of new large commercial and industrial accounts daily.
- Use digital and AI lead generation tools, followed by direct outreach via phone, email, and networking.
- Conduct in person meetings to understand customer energy requirements and develop proposals.
- Close contracts and submit to internal teams for processing; ensure accurate CRM reporting.
- Utilize CRM to manage prospecting activity, pipeline, and track closed deals.
- Assist customers with ongoing energy management goals and maintain understanding of Canadian energy markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams across functions.
- Travel within assigned territory or segment.
- Negotiate contract terms with customers with support from legal team.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Computer Science, Math.
- Or minimum of 3 years of experience in Natural Gas, Electricity and/or Renewable marketplace.
- Established network of large commercial or industrial accounts within Alberta and Canada.
- Ability to learn customer needs with strong communications and negotiating skills.
- AI literate, proficient in Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong history of exceeding assigned prospecting and sales quotas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in direct/outside sales and marketing consultative selling.
- University level degree in Economics, Commerce/Business, Energy and/or Sustainability or Finance.
- Strong understanding of Canadian deregulated electricity, natural gas and/or renewable energy markets.
- Existing relationships with C&I customer base.
- Experience negotiating large complex energy agreements.
Working Conditions
- Weekly travel to customer offices for face to face meetings.
- Hybrid role with 4 days in office and 1 from office/home.
- Business travel mainly within assigned territory; some travel in N.A. up to 4 times per year.
