About The Role
Huna Grand Hypermarket is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Dubai.
The role is responsible for managing key accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking transactions, and financial reporting, while ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with UAE regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in retail or hypermarket finance operations, including inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS) monitoring, and supplier invoice control, and will play an important role in supporting financial governance and operational efficiency.
Financial Closing & Reporting
- L
- ead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes
- Prepare financial statements including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and supporting schedules
- Ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, and submitted within reporting deadlines
- Prepare management reports and financial analysis to support decision-making
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger and ensure proper accounting entries
- Perform and review account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of financial variances
Accounts Payable, Receivable & Banking
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Review supplier invoices, payments, and supporting documentation
- Monitor daily banking transactions and perform bank reconciliations
- Support cash management and monitor cash flow activities
Procurement & Supplier Invoice Control
- Review and verify supplier invoices against approved Purchase Orders and Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) before posting
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and approval hierarchies
- Monitor vendor payments to ensure accuracy and adherence to financial policies
Inventory Accounting & Retail Financial Control
- Monitor inventory valuation and stock movement reconciliations
- Analyse Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and gross profit margins
- Investigate stock discrepancies and coordinate with warehouse and operations teams
- Support financial controls related to inventory management and retail transactions
Cost Control & Financial Analysis
- Monitor operational expenses and ensure effective cost control
- Analyse financial data and identify trends, risks, or irregularities
- Recommend improvements to financial processes and internal controls
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor financial performance against approved budgets
- Assist management with cash flow planning and financial projections
Audit & Compliance
- Assist in internal and external audits and prepare required documentation
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and statutory requirements
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and accounting procedures
Cross-Department Coordination
- Work closely with Procurement, Warehouse, Operations, and Finance Management
- Support operational teams in ensuring accurate financial and inventory reporting
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification ACCA / CPA / CMA preferred
Experience
- 5–8 years of accounting experience
- Experience in retail, supermarket, or hypermarket operations preferred
- Strong exposure to financial reporting and audit coordination
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Experience with ERP / accounting systems
- Expertise in general ledger management and reconciliations
- Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and compliance
- Experience with UAE payroll and WPS processes
