Secondary English Teacher

The first Awfaz Global School was founded in 2009 and offers an outstanding British-style education to children in the local community.

We have 3 campuses across Doha with around 1,500 students.

We cater for all nationalities; however, the majority of our students are Qatari Nationals.

Our school is continually expanding to meet the needs of our community by providing high-quality education from Early Years up to IGCSE and A Levels.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Secondary English Teacher to join our team for August 2026.

The successful candidate should have strong experience teaching the British Curriculum, including IGCSE and AS/A Level English, and demonstrate the ability to inspire students through engaging and high-quality teaching practices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the British Curriculum for Secondary students.
  • Teach English Language and/or English Literature across Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and AS/A Level classes.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations, ensuring strong academic outcomes.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress while providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour, achievement, and classroom engagement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, creativity, and independent thinking.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and school leadership to support curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and wellbeing.
  • Participate actively in school events, meetings, duties, and professional development opportunities.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching the British Curriculum, including IGCSE and AS/A Level English.
  • Strong understanding of secondary English teaching methodologies, assessment practices, and examination preparation.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full academic potential.
  • Experience working within a multicultural school environment is preferred.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A passionate, creative, and student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
