Job Summary
Support health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental safety programs across assigned hospitals and centers.
Conduct inspections, monitor compliance, support incident investigations, and help maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and assets.
Work with hospital and center departments to support safety policies, accreditation requirements, and applicable regulations.
Safety Inspections and Monitoring
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, clinical areas, offices, workshops, warehouses, and utility plants.
- Identify unsafe conditions and practices and report them.
- Monitor corrective actions and follow safety observations through closure.
- Participate in environmental rounds and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.
Fire and Emergency Safety
- Inspect fire extinguishers, hose reels, emergency exits, fire doors, and fire alarm systems.
- Keep emergency evacuation routes clear and properly marked.
- Assist with fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Maintain fire inspection and testing records and report protection system deficiencies.
- Support emergency response, hospital emergency codes, disaster plans, and evacuation procedures.
Occupational Health and Incident Safety
- Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment and promote safe work practices.
- Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation activities.
- Assist with accident, injury, property damage, and near-miss investigations.
- Collect evidence, interview involved persons, prepare reports, and track corrective actions.
- Maintain incident logs and safety records.
Contractor and Hazardous Materials Safety
- Monitor contractor compliance with hospital and center safety requirements.
- Conduct safety inductions for contractors and visitors when required.
- Verify contractor PPE use and safe work procedures and report violations.
- Inspect hazardous material storage areas for policy and regulatory compliance.
- Support material safety data sheet accessibility and awareness training for chemical safety, handling, spills, and emergencies.
Documentation and Training
- Maintain inspection, audit, incident, training, and safety performance records.
- Track safety observations, corrective actions, and compliance indicators.
- Keep safety documentation available for accreditation surveys and inspections.
- Assist with employee safety orientations, awareness campaigns, and fire and emergency preparedness training.
Education and Certification
- Diploma in occupational safety, industrial safety, environmental health and safety, fire safety, engineering technology, or a related field.
- Fire Safety Certification is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
- At least two years of experience in safety, occupational health and safety, fire safety, facilities management, engineering maintenance, or a related field.
- Healthcare facility experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety principles, fire regulations, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, accreditation standards, incident investigation, inspections, auditing, and documentation.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, is required.
Physical and Schedule Requirements
- Ability to conduct site inspections throughout hospital and center premises, climb stairs, and access service areas.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations when required.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, or on-call schedules if applicable.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
