Robotics Electrical Engineer

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, product design or other related engineering discipline. • 5-7 years of electrical engineering experience in product development and design. • Ability to use fault-finding and diagnostics tools and equipment (DVM’s, oscilloscopes, dataloggers) • Good familiarity and exposure to vehicle/industrial communication networks (e.g., CANbus to SAE J1939 or CANopen standards). • Familiarity with electrical CAD systems to be able to model harnesses and prepare drawings and schematic layouts. • Familiarity with product regulatory requirements (EU machinery directive/regulations, EMC, low voltage) and supporting industrial electrical safety standards (ISO, IEC and EN) • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Knowledge of design review tools/processes (e.g., FMEA, risk assessments).
• Desirable Qualifications • Exposure to robotics, autonomous vehicles, mobile/off-highway equipment, or industrial automation (projects, coursework, internships, or personal projects). • Familiarity with sensors/actuators used in robotic systems (e.g., cameras/LiDAR, encoders, motors, servos, safety devices) and their considerations for installation. • Experience with Siemens NX and/or Siemens Teamcenter (or comparable CAD/PDM tools). • Experience working with suppliers and/or manufacturing plants (DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-ups, and cost awareness).
• Working Conditions • Combination of office, lab, and shop/test environment (working with prototype robotic vehicles). • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to customers, suppliers, manufacturing sites, and test locations. • Hyster-Yale Materials Handling is an equal opportunities employer.
