Job Purpose

The role is a highly experienced leader in the Operations department with overall responsibility for assigned rig performance and profitability.

The position covers HSE, maintenance, operations, personnel management, subcontractors, and asset protection and management.

The successful candidate is expected to promote safety, collaboration, operational excellence, and strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize day-to-day drilling operations and well completion.
  • Manage rig performance, profitability, and operational integrity.
  • Ensure quality assurance standards and HSE compliance while leading safety initiatives.
  • Lead and develop multiple drilling crews, including subcontractors.
  • Coordinate rig logistics, supply chains, and external support services.
  • Act as the primary on-site client contact and address stakeholder needs.
  • Manage rig assets and support efficient, cost-effective project completion.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience in the oil field is required.
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and motivating multiple drilling crews.
  • Extensive hands-on experience managing wellbore operations.
  • Ability to optimize drilling performance, reduce costs, and meet project timelines.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations and demonstrated safety leadership.
  • Experience maintaining positive client and internal stakeholder relationships.

Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; any graduation is accepted.
  • A technical degree or diploma in drilling technology or a related engineering field is highly preferred.
  • A valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Certificate at supervisor level is required.
  • Other industry-recognized drilling and HSE certifications are an asset.
