Serve as the primary technical partner and on-site GE Vernova representative for a utility customer.

Support the long-term reliability, performance, and maintenance strategy of an AC substation installation.

Bridge the customer’s operations team with GE Vernova’s engineering and support organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-call technical point of contact for critical system failures and unplanned outages.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and technical support for switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control infrastructure.
  • Support SCADA communications, DFR event reports, and protection relay schemes.
  • Assist with normal, emergency, switching, clearance, temporary earthing, and covered-equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Provide customer training and mentorship, and ensure documentation reflects current as-built designs.
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance follows the agreed annual work plan and develop optimized work methods.
  • Review spare-part lists, inventories, and specifications, and assist with inspection and testing of spare parts.
  • Monitor substation performance data to identify failure modes and provide system health diagnostics.
  • Advise customer management and liaise with GE Vernova regional engineering centers.
  • Champion EHS standards and mitigate high-voltage risks during maintenance activities.
  • The role is ideally based in the New York metropolitan area or Northern New Jersey.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five years of experience supervising high-voltage substations.
  • At least five years of proven field experience.
  • Availability to work on project sites in the United States.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong field leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, installation procedures, and commissioning procedures.
  • Strong understanding of EHS requirements for high-voltage project sites.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces simultaneously.
  • High attention to safety, quality, and detail.
  • Practical problem-solving ability in construction environments.
  • Ability to work under schedule pressure while maintaining standards.

Compensation

  • For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the stated pay range is 101,600 to 152,300 CAD.
  • The specific pay offered may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set.

Additional Information

Relocation assistance is provided.

The description also states that the position is remote, which conflicts with the on-site resident-engineer duties.
