Research Technologist

Education Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position or equivalent formal education and normally has more than fifteen (15) years of pertinent and progressive technological experience; or Secondary School Honour Graduation and normally has more than eighteen (18) years of pertinent and progressive experience, or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training. A diploma or degree from a recognized technical college with a specialization in electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, instrumentation technology, or related discipline preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Sound technical knowledge and demonstrated exceptional ability in specialized field as well as a good general understanding of other fields. Aptitude for technical innovation and application of ‘state-of- the art’ knowledge. Excellent judgment, keen sense of responsibility, reliable, and thorough in carrying out duties. Ability to work in a team environment with good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated project management skills. Practical work experience in some combination of laboratory operation, scientific instrumentation, and experimental design. Working with and designing systems involving elevated temperatures, steam or gas flow, radioactive samples, and novel instrumentation techniques is considered an asset. Good knowledge of CNL work practices, programs and standards.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

This position is part of the USW1568 Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW1568 Collective Agreement.
