Responsibilities
- Advise on the establishment and refinement of governance frameworks for strategic alignment and transparency across portfolio initiatives
- Oversee portfolio prioritization processes and investment evaluations based on strategic fit, risk profile, and potential impact
- Guide leadership decisions on continuation, acceleration, or termination of program streams based on data driven insights
- Develop and implement performance monitoring frameworks to assess progress, milestones, and ROI of portfolio initiatives
- Advise on optimal allocation of financial, technical, and human resources across portfolio programs
- Identify and manage portfolio level risks, defining proactive mitigation and contingency strategies
- Provide guidance on the transition of successful R&D outcomes into commercialization, licensing, and operational adoption
- Serve as senior liaison for portfolio related interactions with internal leadership and external collaborators
- Conduct strategic foresight exercises to identify emerging technology trends, market disruptions, and research opportunities
Requirements
- Minimum 9 years of experience in R&D portfolio management, program governance, or research commercialization within aviation, aerospace, or high tech industries
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Air Traffic Management, Business Administration, or Innovation Management
- Proven record in leading large scale research portfolios, resource optimization, and integration of R&D outputs into operations
- Strong background in risk management, performance evaluation, and strategic foresight
- Master's degree or certifications such as MoP, PgMP, or PMP preferred

Role Purpose
- To oversee the enterprise level of R&D portfolio governance, ensuring optimal strategic alignment, prioritization, and performance optimization across all research and development initiatives.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
- Advise on the establishment and refinement of governance frameworks that ensure strategic alignment and transparency across portfolio initiatives
- Oversee portfolio prioritization processes and investment evaluations based on strategic fit, risk profile, and potential impact
- Guide leadership decisions on continuation, acceleration, or termination of program streams based on data driven insights
- Advise and contribute to the development of Technology Division’s vision, mission, and long term strategy and roadmap
- Develop and implement performance monitoring frameworks to assess progress, milestones, and ROI of portfolio initiatives
- Recommend adjustments to balance short term operational projects with long term strategic R&D efforts
- Provide independent analysis of portfolio health and alignment with SANS’s strategic objectives
- Advise on optimal allocation of financial, technical, and human resources across portfolio programs
- Identify and manage portfolio level risks, defining proactive mitigation and contingency strategies
- Provide guidance on the transition of successful R&D outcomes into commercialization, licensing, and operational adoption
- Serve as the senior liaison for portfolio related interactions with internal leadership and external collaborators
- Conduct strategic foresight exercises to identify emerging technology trends, market disruptions, and research opportunities
Qualifications / Requirements
