The Relationship Manager (SME/Corporate) is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the SME banking business.
This role involves identifying and capitalizing on sales opportunities, developing strategic plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
The role will aim to support the team to deliver exceptional service and customized solutions to SME/Corporate clients, fostering strong relationships and achieving set targets.
Job Objective
To drive sustainable growth and profitability of the bank’s SME/Corporate portfolio by acquiring new clients, deepening existing relationships, and promoting tailored financial solutions, while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the growth of the SME/Corporate banking business portfolio to achieve targets for portfolio expansion, income, and quality.
- Actively participate in Mbank marketing campaigns and business development events, including attending exhibitions, trade shows, and community events to man Mbank booths or kiosks, promote SME/Corporate products, and source potential clients.
- Ability to analyse SME/Corporate clients’ financial statements, assess cash flows, repayment capacity, and key credit risk indicators in line with the bank’s credit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to independently prepare well-structured credit memos and proposals for new and existing SME/Corporate clients, presenting findings and recommendations to credit risk committees and senior management.
- Proactively identify and pursue qualified sales opportunities, delivering value-added, needs-based solutions to SMEs/Corporates.
- Ensure all documentation and applications comply with local and regulatory anti-money laundering and KYC requirements.
- Evaluate the eligibility of companies for SME/Corporate products by analyzing their financial statements, business plans, and creditworthiness.
- Assist in executing the sales strategy and develop a lead generation plan to enhance market presence and drive SME/Corporates banking product growth.
- Promote the bank’s product offerings to SMEs and Corporates, including Business Loans, Business Debit Card, Cheque/Invoice Discounting, POS (Point of Sale) Loan, Letters of Guarantee (LGs), Letters of Credit (LC), and Trade Finance Solutions.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and offering customized solutions.
- Guide, support, and inspire a team of Business Relationship Officers to meet and exceed their targets, if any.
- Assess team performance, providing regular feedback and coaching to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure all team activities adhere to local labor laws and banking regulations.
- Stay abreast of market trends and competitor activities to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Compile and present detailed reports on team performance, sales activities, customer feedback, and market conditions.
Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 4-8 years of experience in business development, sales, or relationship management within the banking or financial services industry in the UAE.
- Strong understanding of SME banking products and services.
Competencies & Skills
- Strong commercial and self-generating, new to bank, acquisition orientation with a customer centric approach
- Good knowledge of business credit underwriting and portfolio management.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Proficiency in using digital banking platforms and CRM software.
- Knowledge of UAE labor laws and banking regulations is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is highly desired.
