Unit Overview

UNIT NAME: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit 2
Patient Population: Neonates & Pediatrics up to 14 years. Mixed Gender
Hours of Operation: 24 hours / 7 days per week

Primary Patient Diagnoses

Congenital and acquired complex cardiac defect with other co morbidities Pre and Post Cardiac Surgery
Pre and Post Diagnostic, lnterventional Cardiac Catheterization

Nursing Procedures

Invasive Mechanical Ventilation
Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support (ECMO)
High Frequency Oscillator Ventilation (HFOV)
Insertion, Management and / or Monitoring of Invasive Lines, CVP/ART/LA / PA/RA Emergency Chest Re Opening, and management of patient with open sternum Emergency Bedside Atrial Septostomy
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
Peritoneal Dialysis
Insertion and Removal of Chest Tubes
Administration of lnotropes
Defibrillation / Cardioversion
Bronchoscopy
TPN
Temporary Pacing

Additional Procedures

Pericardiocentesis
Newly formed Tracheotomy with Ventilation
Lumbar Puncture
