Role overview

Core activities

• Provide leadership and supervision to team members under direct supervision.
• Maintain the ESS State Board and produce progress estimates and forecasts of aircraft recovery times.
• Brief the Part M organization and authorized pilots on fleet status, recovery actions, and aircraft limitations.
• Complete aircraft and component maintenance, including handling, servicing, inspections, repairs, modifications, replacements, and system tests.
• Ensure maintenance is completed to schedule, escalate issues, and report effects on the wider programme.
• Maintain staff task authorizations and ensure personnel are competent and approved for allocated maintenance work.
• Evaluate faults, raise ad hoc work cards, and conduct independent and vital inspections.

Key accountabilities

• Set delivery targets, monitor progress, prioritize work across teams, and develop performance improvement programmes.
• Ensure Part 145 activities are documented and performed by qualified, experienced, and authorized personnel.
• Support Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management, Safety Assurance, and hazard mitigation.
• Support assurance audits, manage responses to findings, and implement improvements for non-compliance.
• Apply continuing airworthiness requirements and support regulatory changes affecting maintenance activities.
• Comply with applicable ITAR, E&PW, ISO, contractual, and other statutory requirements.

Qualifications and experience

• Complete an Engineering Apprenticeship, including City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 or an equivalent qualification, ideally in aeronautical engineering.
• A relevant engineering degree is advantageous and may be in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic, or related studies.
• Have at least two years of supervisory experience before undertaking the role.
• Have five years of practical aviation safety experience and two years of aircraft maintenance component environment experience.
• Have six months of experience on type within the last two years and maintain a log book of relevant authorities and skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Acceptable Means of Compliance and hold relevant management, trade, Human Factors, E&PW, and ITAR training.
• Be IT literate.
