Key skills for this role
We are hiring a Quantum Engineer to develop and validate the cryogenic infrastructure that connects SQC’s silicon quantum processors to the classical world. As our processors scale, the wiring, interconnects, and quantum-classical interfaces inside our dilution refrigerators become as critical as the qubits themselves. You will test and validate cryogenic wiring and connector solutions, including both in-house and third-party products, develop cross-talk testing protocols for high-density signal delivery, and assess how cryogenic components affect qubit performance. This role suits an early-career engineer or physicist who enjoys careful, hands-on laboratory work and wants to build the infrastructure that makes large-scale quantum computing possible.

For roles at SQC, expect 3-4 interviews, meeting a few members of the team and focusing on your core eligibility for the role, your skills and how they align, and finally your values and how they align. We'll give you a more specific run-through if you're successful in making it to the first interview.
As part of our obligations to our clients, we require that successful candidates submit to background checks, including a National Police Check, Right to Work checks, as well as employment and qualifications verification. We won't contact anyone until we're confident there's a fit between SQC and yourself.

Employment may be subject to applicable export control laws and may require eligibility assessment based on factors such as nationality, citizenship, or residency, and, where necessary, obtaining relevant export licenses or approvals.
SQC was founded by renowned physicist and materials scientist Michelle Simmons, who pioneered the field of atomic electronics, including the development of the world’s first single-atom transistor and the first integrated circuit built with atomic precision. Our Chair, Simon Segars, former CEO of Arm, is a leader in the semiconductor industry and was instrumental in developing the processors that powered the mobile computing revolution.
As a full-stack company with in-house QPU manufacturing, SQC can design, produce and test new quantum chips in under a week, enabling rapid iteration and a decisive advantage in the race to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer.
SQC is a high-accountability environment built on a simple principle: Every Atom Counts. If you’re looking to play a meaningful role in building the next frontier of computing, we’d love to hear from you.
