Responsibilities
- Operate quay crane for discharging and loading containers on vessel in accordance with safe operating procedures
- Position crane safely alongside vessel near required hatch/bay as per instructions
- Lower boom, hoist spreader, and start discharging/loading containers
- Ensure not to handle container prior unlashing and twist locks unlocking
- Ensure lashers are in safe position during operations
- Take safety precautions when lifting hatch cover
- Secure crane and drop anchors during high wind
- Coordinate with vessel hatchman and supervisor for visibility issues
- Ensure crane is clear from vessel obstructions
- Undertake routine cleaning of cabins and windows
- Report minor faults for corrective maintenance
- Inspect crane and fill checklist for regular inspections
Requirements
- Experience in operating quay cranes for container loading and discharging
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures and safety standards
- Ability to coordinate with vessel supervisors and hatchmen
- Ability to perform routine crane inspections and maintenance checks

Job Overview
- Operate QC for discharging and loading of containers On Vessel, in accordance with safe operating procedures, performance targets and standards.
Responsibilities
- Position the crane safely alongside the vessel near the required Hatch/ bay as per the Vessel Supervisor s/ Vessel Hatch man s instructions and in accordance with the crane program.
- Lower the boom of the crane, come back to the operator s cabin, hoist down the spreader and start discharging / loading containers from/to vessel according to instructions.
- Ensure not to handle container prior unlashing & twist locks unlocking is completed.
- Ensure the lashers are in a safe position whilst discharging/ loading operation is in progress.
- Take all safety precaution needed when lifting hatch cover from/to vessel.
- Ensure that crane is secured, properly parked and anchors are dropped down during high wind
- Take all safety measures required while working under poor visibility and coordinate with the Vessel Hatchman and vessel supervisor to resolve issues related to visibility, it is applicable.
- Ensure that crane is clear from vessel obstructions to avoid accidents that could occur in lieu of these obstructions.
- Undertake routine cleaning of cabins and windows.
- Follow the concept of corrective maintenance (report any minor faults, even if they do not impact the working of the equipment).
- Ensure adherence to safety standards during discharging & loading operations.
- Do not move the crane until the vessel is completely secured.
