We are hiring a
Purchasing Lead
for a fast-growing Saudi-based grocery e-commerce and dark store platform, operating with a
French-inspired approach to premium food retail, with a strong focus on curated, organic, and unique food offerings
.
This is a
senior-level purchasing role
with full ownership of sourcing strategy and supplier development across all categories including fresh produce, dry goods, dairy, household, and personal care.
We are specifically looking for a
hands-on, field-driven sourcing leader with a strong local sourcing mindset
, someone who actively spends significant time in the market visiting farms, local producers, artisanal suppliers, and SME food businesses across Saudi Arabia to continuously discover and build a differentiated supplier ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end purchasing across all product categories for the dark store operation
- Develop and expand a strong supplier base across Saudi Arabia, with a focus on local farms, SMEs, and niche producers
- Actively source and onboard artisanal, specialty, and emerging food brands
- Build direct relationships with producers, farms, and manufacturers across KSA
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and commercial agreements
- Ensure strong product availability, supply continuity, and efficient replenishment planning
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, and compliance standards
- Collaborate with warehouse, operations, finance, and marketing teams for smooth execution
- Support promotional planning and SKU selection based on demand and seasonality
- Continuously benchmark premium and specialty retail offerings locally and internationally
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or category management
- Strong background in FMCG, grocery retail, or e-commerce (KSA/GCC preferred)
- Proven experience in supplier development and relationship building
- Strong understanding of the Saudi food ecosystem and supplier landscape
- ERP experience (SAP, Odoo, or equivalent) and strong Excel skills
- Fluent Arabic and English
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership
