Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a talented Propulsion Systems Engineer with expertise in fluid systems to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL.
ESG supports diverse government customers across multiple cutting-edge technology domains within a fast-paced, agile development environment focused on delivering innovative capabilities quickly and cost-effectively.
Our portfolio includes a broad array of advanced platforms and technologies, notably the X-37B the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane.
Define requirements for propulsion system components used in vehicle cryogenic fuel, oxidizer, bi-prop, mono-prop, pneumatic, hydraulic, or pyrotechnic systems.
Support definitions, coordination, and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the components within the propulsion system,
Design propulsion components to meet all subsystem design and performance criteria.
Supports development of rationale needed to make sound technical decisions regarding component design and development
Support definition and performance of propulsion component qualification certification testing
Lead or support engineers and technicians during hazardous and non-hazardous operations throughout the lifecycle of refurbishment, integration, and test (RIT), launch, and recovery operations for the ESG program
Evaluate fielded components to assure continued reliability and airworthiness
Lead or support identification and management of propulsion risks, issues, and opportunities.
Support development of executable mitigation and capture plans, develop cost and schedule impact estimates, update risk tracking system (e.g.
BORIS), and communicate with propulsion RIO Control Board
Develop and maintain Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW) pertaining to vehicle component development.
Assure technical, customer, and regulatory requirements are met.
Support Program and Supplier Management to development and follow plans for material procurement
Conduct component failure investigations and non-conformance closures through Material Review Board (MRB) and other internal and customer boards.

This includes component issues that emerge at the supplier or the vehicle production facility.
Coordinate with Boeing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other Integrated Product Team (IPT) members as needed to resolve issues
Host technical interchange meetings and component reviews including supplier requirements review (SRR), design reviews (PDR / CDR), acceptance reviews, test readiness reviews (TRR), production readiness reviews (PRR)
Review supplier data requirement list (SDRL) items and engineering drawings to ensure design and requirement compliance
Coordinate work scope with other engineers
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Active Top Secret/SCI U.S.
Security Clearance (U.S.
Citizenship Required). (A U.S.
Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
3+ years of related work experience
Proven experience in rocket propulsion engineering
Hands-on experience with propulsion system components, interface management, and design or integration considerations for aerospace vehicles
Demonstrated expertise in systems design, systems analysis, or systems integration within complex engineering environments
Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 10 percent, as required
Experience working on propulsion systems to include cryogenic and pneumatic delivery systems
Experience in space, launch vehicles, or aircraft programs
Experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program
Knowledge of fluid systems
