About the Role
Brunel is seeking a Project Safety Officer to provide technical HSE services during definition, design, and execution stages of oil and gas projects. The role involves risk assessment, incident investigation, and ensuring contractor compliance.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical services to Company in the areas of Health and Safety during definition, detailed design, and execution stages to ensure contractor(s) compliance with established HSE policies, guidelines, procedures, standards, and regulations.
- Identify and implement risk reduction measures based on hazard identification and risk assessment studies in all areas and phases of construction, pre commissioning and commissioning.
- Participate in checking and reviewing method statements, JSA's, safety certifications, and other related documents submitted by contractors/project consultants.
- Provide oversight in the field for EPIC Contractor, Subcontractor(s) and Vendors, to verify understanding and compliance to project HSE requirements.
- Conduct site safety meetings and HSE awareness among Company project staff and Contractors.
- Conduct safety audits on the project involving all parties to ensure compliance with safety policies and advise corrective actions.
- Compile reports and prepare statistical and trend analysis reports to assess safety performances.
Requirements
- Higher National Degree (HND), or University Degree (Preferably in an Engineering discipline) or an Accredited HSE Professional Certificate
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, preferably in the Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Industry, and specifically construction projects (including greenfield and brownfield work)
- Thorough knowledge of safe work practices, international standards (e.g., ISO 45001:2018), and procedures
- Conversant with international standards in Environmental Management System
- Competent in the use of PC including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and any other relevant software

Key Responsibilities

- Support and maintain strong safety culture in line with the Company vision, strategy, and values.
- Identify and implement risk reduction measures based on hazard identification and risk assessment studies in all areas and phases of construction, pre commissioning and commissioning. Work closely with the risk assessment specialist and other parties.

Education & Experience
- Higher National Degree (HND), or University Degree (Preferably in an Engineering discipline) or an Accredited HSE Professional Certificate Associate membership of a recognized safety institution is desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, preferably in the Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Industry, and specifically construction projects (including greenfield and brownfield work).
- Thorough knowledge of safe work practices, international standards (e.g., ISO 45001:2018), and procedures.
- Conversant with international standards in Environmental Management System.
- Trained in any of the following Incident Investigation Software: TapRoot, SafetyCulture, EasyRCA, Tripod Beta, etc.
- Competent in the use of PC including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and any other relevant software.
- Experience in the GCC is desirable.
