Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Construction, the Project Manager is responsible for the daily management, coordination, and oversight of construction projects at California Institute of the Arts main Valencia campus and external sites. The scope of this work includes successful project planning, execution, and closure.
Work closely with the AVP of Facilities Construction, and the Capital Facilities Planning team in planning and pre-construction activities for various projects, leading to a successful project roll-out.
Responsible for driving project progress with internal and external constituents.
Proactively monitor, track and take necessary action to deliver projects within the scheduled timeframe and approved budget.
Coordinate with institute and project staff as needed to execute each phase of the project. Create a work plan to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of work to ensure the projects are completed on time and meet the cost and quality targets/standards.
Must be familiar with reviewing contracts and generating requests for proposals (RFP’s), as well as reviewing requests for information (RFI’s) to manage change orders. Coordinate design changes with other employees and contractors/architects.
Meet with architects, contractors and involved institute employees for preconstruction review and ongoing construction as needed.
Coordinate the preparation and updating of the formal project construction schedule as required by the contract. Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems

Communicate orally and in writing at an administrative level; and work collaboratively with a large and diverse group of constituents.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of students and employees.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, project management or related field
Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Ability to Insure
Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)
3+ years’ experience in construction-related project management
Experience with scheduling software
Have excellent communication skills while interacting with employees, vendors, and students, in a friendly and professional manner on the telephone/E-mail and in-person
Work efficiently in a demanding environment and can manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience reading and interpreting plans, blueprints, and specifications
Financially aware to deliver targets, with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance
Experience with budget management software and/or ERP
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to navigate and use computer aided design (CAD), 2D and 3D software
Must display strong analytical and organizational skills and maintain a strong sense of attention to detail. Can communicate effectively to manage relationships, in addition to strong planning and organization skills to deliver operational excellence and efficiency.
