EIS is also responsible for services related to departmental network management, network, server and storage infrastructure, Windows and Linux server management services, database and application integration and support, enterprise backup service, 24/7 operation of central administrative data centres and telecommunications services. Your opportunity: Reporting to Manager, Network Design and Implementation, the Project Management IT Network Specialist will be part of a highly skilled and collaborative technical team responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable, and cost-efficient data networks for the University. This role is strongly hands-on, with a primary focus on network infrastructure planning, design, engineering, operational reliability, and cost efficiency. You will be working in close partnership with network operations and information security teams, departmental IT leadership, University Planning, Design & Construction, field service technicians, and service delivery team. The role contributes to University departments and services through network infrastructure design, enablement, and support. The position requires strong practicalexpertise in leading and planning IT projects, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex IP networks. You will be developing and updating network infrastructure for highly complex and confidential university-wide IT systems. Strong leadership and training skills are required; you will be serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists, also, leading a group of technicians during network implementation and testing phases of projects, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow. The ideal candidate has a substantial experience in designing and implementing complex IP-based networks on a campus scale, demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration with peer groups and services. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and implementing expansion and enhancement of IT networks independently Analyzing, testing, troubleshooting highly complex networking systems Devising solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment Collaborating with peers and senior management on network planning, implementation, and troubleshooting across the campus Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides Leading and planning IT network projects on the building, system and campus scale. Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects. Collaborating on cost estimates. Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Network Engineering or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Minimum five years of experience in the design, specification andimplementation of enterprise networks and project management. Proficiency working with a variety of IPEthernet-based communications network hardware (e.g., Aruba CX6000/8000 switches or equivalent models, Aruba Wi-Fi 5/6/7 WAPs or equivalent) related diagnostic and network management tools (e.g., WireShark, Netdisco, ClearPass, Aruba Networking Central, AirWave, Ekahau, or equivalent) and test equipment (OTDR, Ekahau Sidekick, and similar) . Proven track record of working in a team environment and providing team leadership. Demonstrated ability to manage complex networking projects to ensure proper and timely project implementation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce quality project documentation and reports. Comfortable operating in complex project management environments where influence, persuasion, and relationship-building are as important as technical expertise. Assets (Nonessential): Relevant certification in networking (CCNA, CCNP or equivalent, BICSI RCDD, PMP).
