Job Summary

  • Seeking a highly skilled Estimator / Quantity Surveyor / Quality Controller for joinery and interior fit out team.
  • Responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, cost analyses, quantity surveying, and ensuring quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for joinery, furniture, millwork, and interior fit out projects.
  • Perform quantity take offs and material calculations from drawings and specifications.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, hardware, finishes, and outsourced works.
  • Analyze labor, material, machinery, overhead, and installation costs.
  • Prepare tender submissions, pricing schedules, and commercial proposals.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost saving alternatives.
  • Maintain an updated cost database for materials, labor, and subcontract services.
  • Prepare project budgets and cost plans.
  • Monitor project costs and compare actual expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Measure completed works and verify quantities for progress billing.
  • Prepare variation orders, cost impact assessments, and additional work quotations.

Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management

  • Assist in contract administration and commercial correspondence.
  • Monitor material consumption and wastage levels throughout project execution.
  • Support project managers with cost reporting and profitability analysis.
  • Participate in project close out and final account preparation.

Quality Control & Assurance

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for joinery manufacturing and installation.
  • Conduct inspections of raw materials, work in progress, and finished joinery items.
  • Verify compliance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Perform factory inspections throughout production stages.
  • Conduct pre delivery inspections and coordinate final quality checks before dispatch.
  • Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify defects, non conformities, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and non conformance reports (NCRs).

Production & Technical Coordination

  • Coordinate with design, drafting, production, procurement, and project teams.
  • Review shop drawings and material specifications for cost and quality compliance.
  • Assist production teams in optimizing material utilization and reducing waste.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing and installation processes.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed estimation reports, cost analyses, and tender summaries.
  • Maintain records of project budgets, quotations, variation orders, and quality inspections.
  • Generate periodic reports on project profitability, quality performance, and cost control metrics.
  • Ensure proper filing and document control of all commercial and quality related records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in joinery, woodworking, furniture manufacturing, interior fit out, or construction industries.
  • Proven experience in estimating, quantity surveying, and quality control functions.
  • Strong understanding of joinery manufacturing processes, materials, finishes, and installation methods.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent quantity take off and cost estimation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQs, tendering procedures, and project costing.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior design, and shop drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP and estimating software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accuracy of project estimates and tender submissions.
  • Tender success rate and profitability of awarded projects.
  • Cost variance between estimated and actual project costs.
  • Timely preparation of quotations and variation orders.
  • Effective project cost monitoring and control.
  • Accuracy of quantity take offs and progress valuations.
  • Reduction in material wastage and cost overruns.
  • Reduction in manufacturing defects and rework.
  • Compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Successful completion of inspections and project handovers.
  • Client satisfaction regarding product quality and workmanship.
