Role Overview

Project Engineer / Operations Lead responsible for PPC UAE contracted services across drilling fluids, waste management, solid control, and filtration.

The role oversees operational excellence, compliance, profitability, resource coordination, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement.

The position reports to the Country Manager and serves as a liaison between field teams, senior management, and clients.

Business Context

Petrochem Performance Chemicals specializes in drilling fluids and associated equipment services.

The operating territory covers the Middle East and Caspian, including the UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, and Yemen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations across PPC service lines to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Develop operational strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Monitor performance metrics and generate decision-support reports.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to improve processes and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage budgets, inventory, and logistics for field operations.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Supervise and mentor field staff.
  • Conduct audits, site visits, and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic alignment.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of drilling waste technologies and environmental compliance.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in operational planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Deep understanding of drilling fluids, waste management, and filtration systems.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and implement process improvements.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with HSE protocols and quality management systems.
  • Competence in budgeting, inventory control, logistics coordination, service quality audits, and corrective action planning.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience as a drilling fluid specialist or field supervisor.
  • Experience with drilling fluids or completion fluids, drilling waste management, solid control, and project engineering or SCE operations coordination.
  • A bachelor's degree in petroleum or chemical engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification, is preferred.
  • Sufficient field experience with relevant training and courses may be accepted as an alternative to the preferred degree.
  • Mud School from BAROID, SLB, or BHI, or a PPC equivalency exam or test, is a prerequisite.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures

Maintain financial profitability of the drilling fluids and equipment division.

Establish and review equipment maintenance records monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Provide monthly utilization reports and periodic inventory reports for management.

Establish and review a quarterly training matrix for all personnel.

Maintain 100% HSE compliance across workshops and locations.

Evaluate one new technology on a bi-annual basis.

Prepare technical bids and necessary cost calculations or estimates.
