Project Engineer (Mechanical Industrial Automation)

Role Overview

Project Planning and Coordination

• Prepare project execution schedules, track milestones, identify delays, and take corrective action.
• Conduct project reviews, follow up on pending activities, close action points, and escalate critical issues.
• Clarify customer requirements, coordinate technical approvals, communicate progress and changes, and prepare site requirements.
• Review TDS, drawings, layouts, and BOMs; ensure current revisions are used and document changes through ECN or change control.

Materials and Production

• Track purchase orders, critical materials, long-lead items, delivery risks, and material availability.
• Monitor fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and production progress against the project schedule.
• Coordinate resolution of mechanical, electrical, and assembly issues and ensure machine readiness for testing.

Electrical, PLC, Quality, and Delivery

• Coordinate electrical panel manufacturing, wiring, PLC/HMI programming, debugging, and integration of PLC, HMI, servo, VFD, sensors, and other automation systems.
• Coordinate quality inspection, FAT, punch-point closure, dispatch readiness, documentation, drawings, manuals, and software backups.
• Coordinate installation and commissioning engineers, site prerequisites, action plans, customer acceptance, and closure of pending points.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain project schedules, status trackers, meeting action trackers, drawing and BOM status, purchase and material status, and production status.
• Maintain FAT reports, punch-point lists, installation and commissioning reports, customer approvals, and project closure documentation.

Technical Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, SPM, machine building, or project execution.
• Good knowledge of industrial automation, SPM, or special purpose machines.
• Ability to understand TDS, 2D drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
• Basic knowledge of PLC, HMI, servo systems, VFDs, pneumatics, sensors, industrial communication, electrical panels, and mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of machine manufacturing, project execution, FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning processes.
• MS Excel and project tracking skills are required; ERP knowledge is advantageous.

Education and Soft Skills

• Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
• Strong coordination, communication, follow-up, problem-solving, customer-handling, ownership, and accountability skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under deadlines, identify risks, escalate issues, and collaborate with teams.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay is ₹25,000–₹40,000 per month.
• Benefits include flexible schedule, food provided, paid sick time, paid time off, and Provident Fund.

• Work location is in person in Coimbatore.
