Program Coordinator - MLL Department

Position: Coordinator of Programs for English Language Learners

Job Description: To support and assist classroom teachers in effectively supporting students in meeting the standards identified in the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Benchmarks and Outcomes document.

To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in effective sheltered content instruction for students not yet proficient in English and not enrolled in an intensive sheltered English immersion class.

Coordinate, with the Director of Professional Development, opportunities for all teachers to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to support English language learners.

Participate in a DESE-sponsored MLL/DLE work group to develop a document template and exemplars to guide the development of an MLL/DLE curriculum at the district level.

Coordinate the continued development of an MLL/DLE K-12 curriculum.

Recommend district policies and procedures to support both sheltered English immersion classes and effective sheltered content instruction for students not yet enrolled in an intensive sheltered English immersion class.

Assist with the identification and acquisition of appropriate curriculum materials for English language learners

Possession of a valid Massachusetts educator's license;

Must possess or meet prerequisites for Supervisor/Director license;

Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the state assessments, including Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), WIDA, and ACCESS;
