Role overview
Meta is seeking a Network Engineering Manager for the Backbone and Edge Engineering team.
The team designs, implements, and supports a large-scale Software Defined Express Backbone Network.
The role requires deep technical expertise across software, systems, IP, and optical networking.
Responsibilities
- Provide highly technical management, act as a subject matter expert, and influence technical direction.
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for the team and partner teams.
- Manage engineers designing, building, scaling, deploying, and supporting Express Backbone network infrastructure.
- Partner with backbone, edge, data center, hardware network engineering, and software infrastructure teams.
- Manage and develop engineers and support their career progression through tailored project assignments.
- Assess performance, address underperformance, and recognize and promote strong performance.
- Work with recruiting staff on sourcing, interviewing, events, hiring, and onboarding.
- Communicate cross-functionally and drive engineering efforts.
Minimum qualifications
- Experience managing a networking-related software engineering team.
