Job Description Summary
Own Process Engineering activities and productivity improvement initiatives.
Lead, coordinate, coach, and mentor Lean Coordinators to improve performance and execution rigor.
Perform engineering work associated with manufacturing processes within a defined operational framework.
New Product Introduction
- Calculate takt time for new products using forecasted volumes.
- Plan production loading based on forecast demand and available capacity.
- Determine workstation requirements from product takt time.
- Prepare process flow charts and develop production layouts.
- Plan and validate assembly facilities, tools, fixtures, material handling equipment, bins, and trolleys.
Process Improvement
- Develop work instructions and standard work documents.
- Prepare lift plans for smooth and efficient product movement.
- Improve assembly line capacity using Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Lead and coordinate Kaizen initiatives across assembly lines.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
Capacity and Process Engineering
- Plan assembly line capacity against forecasted demand and customer requirements.
- Conduct cycle time studies and ensure effective line balancing.
- Prepare product-wise Value Stream Maps for assembly processes.
- Monitor capacity utilization and prepare MIS reports for process performance.
- Support the digitization of manufacturing processes.
Technical Expertise
- Drive 5S, Standard Work, and Daily Management initiatives across the factory.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate manufacturing processes.
- Manage process improvement and facility expansion projects.
- Collect and analyze data to support process improvement decisions.
- Use knowledge of Lean manufacturing, line balancing, layout changes, advanced manufacturing, and assembly operations.
- Prepare process documentation including work instructions and control plans.
- Understand Design for Assembly, low-cost automation, tool selection, jigs, and fixtures.
- Coordinate vendors and raise purchase requisitions for assembly tools and equipment.
- Ensure engineering designs and specifications are accurately documented.
- Maintain knowledge of ISO documentation.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering background.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in industrial engineering and Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience leading teams in earlier roles.
- Knowledge of assembly manufacturing functions and exposure to quality, engineering, Lean, testing, or related engineering processes.
- Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to narrowing down technical issues.
