Role overview
Crouch Waterfall, a subsidiary of Vulcain Engineering Group, is seeking a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer for its multidisciplinary team in Basingstoke.
The role leads technical delivery across rail, bridges, temporary works, and other civil structures, with projects ranging from smaller schemes to projects valued at up to £20 million.
Experienced Engineers ready to progress to Principal level are also encouraged to apply with structured support and mentorship available.
Location and working model
- The role is based in Basingstoke, UK, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery of complex civil and structural projects involving bridges, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and temporary works.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to Engineers and Technicians.
- Review and approve designs, calculations, and analysis produced by others.
- Conduct structural assessments, site inspections, and surveys and prepare technical reports.
- Plan project programmes, resource allocation, and coordination with senior leadership.
- Support forecasting, invoicing, fee management, tenders, and fee proposals.
- Engage clients on scope, expectations, and delivery and identify business growth opportunities.
Preferred experience
- A Chartered Engineer with a strong track record in leading technical delivery for large-scale structures is preferred.
- Experience across structural assessment, inspection, analysis of existing structures, and new-build design is preferred.
- Proficiency with Tedds, Robot, and/or Midas is preferred.
- Rail exposure, bridge design, temporary works, and Contractor Engineering Manager experience are beneficial but not essential.
- Client-facing confidence, strong communication, and interpersonal skills are preferred.
- Independent UK right to work and extensive UK project experience are preferred.
