Role overview
The Principal AI Engineer leads technical execution for an embedded Innovation Squad.
The role takes AI experiments from discovery through production and creates reusable capabilities for other teams.
The engineer works directly with internal stakeholders and end users in host functions.
Technical delivery
- Build, assess, and harden AI prototypes and proofs of concept.
- Design reusable agentic AI patterns covering orchestration, tool use, memory, and retrieval.
- Ensure solutions meet architecture, security, data-governance, and infrastructure standards.
- Recommend infrastructure, hosting, and data-residency approaches.
Reuse and collaboration
- Codify validated solutions into patterns, reference implementations, and starter kits.
- Finalize requirements, write specifications, fix complex bugs, and design complex data models.
- Act as the primary technical contact for external resources and the squad’s coding and AI expert.
- Mentor engineers and evaluate emerging technologies.
