Lead an embedded innovation squad delivering AI solutions from discovery through production.

Build reusable capabilities that improve internal workflows and create customer value and growth.

Serve as the senior technical source of expertise for AI architecture, integration and delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Own technical execution, build and harden prototypes, and deliver new AI solutions.
  • Design reusable agentic AI patterns covering orchestration, tool use, memory and retrieval.
  • Ensure delivery meets architecture, security and data-governance standards.
  • Codify validated solutions into patterns, reference implementations and starter kits.
  • Finalize requirements and work directly with stakeholders and end users.
  • Write specifications, fix complex bugs and design complex data models.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for external resources and the squad's coding and AI expert.
  • Establish outcome baselines and track productivity, cost and quality through scale.
  • Maintain visibility of AI pilots to prevent duplication and identify reuse opportunities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on AI system design, development or integration.
  • Track record of taking AI prototypes into production in enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, context-window management and production guardrails.
  • Experience with MCP, tool-augmented agents and enterprise-scale RAG.
  • Experience integrating AI through APIs and data pipelines with strong security, governance and residency practices.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or GCP and managed AI or machine-learning services.
  • Experience with Agile, CI/CD, modern SDLC, TDD and relational, columnar and vector data stores.
  • Ability to manage scope, dependencies and priorities and drive delivery through ambiguity.
  • Ability to communicate with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders and influence technical decisions.

Languages and technical skills

  • Python, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL and relevant AI SDKs.
  • Agentic AI architecture, orchestration, tool use, memory and retrieval.
  • Enterprise integration, cloud infrastructure, security and data governance.

About the business

Elsevier is a global provider of information and analytics supporting science, healthcare, research, education and clinical practice.

Benefits
