Role Overview
People and Work Intelligence builds intelligence capabilities for Microsoft 365, Copilot, workforce intelligence, learning, skills, tasks, and organizational insights.
The Principal Software Engineer provides hands-on technical leadership across intelligence, inferencing, platform, and agentic systems.
Responsibilities
- Define technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmaps for intelligence platform investments.
- Design distributed systems and AI-native solutions using LLMs, retrieval, agents, memory systems, knowledge graphs, and intelligence pipelines.
- Drive signal processing, contextual intelligence, recommendations, and enterprise-scale insight generation.
- Lead modernization, reliability, performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, observability, testing, and deployment automation initiatives.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, resolve ambiguous challenges, and influence standards and direction across organizations.
- Represent the team across Microsoft and influence platform direction, partner integrations, and future intelligence capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
