Role overview
DigitalOcean is hiring a Principal Engineer, AI/ML Security within the CISO organization.
The role leads AI security expertise, strategy, governance, and external community engagement at cloud scale.
What you'll do
- Define AI security controls for customer-facing products with Product Security and Engineering leadership.
- Build detection strategies, guardrails, security tooling, and automations for AI/ML systems.
- Implement and monitor online and batch inference endpoints for in-house AI/ML models.
- Lead adversarial testing for jailbreaks, prompt injection, evasion, poisoning, and model extraction.
- Lead AI product security reviews and provide architectural sign-off for high-risk decisions.
- Threat model the AI lifecycle from data ingestion and training through serving and post-deployment monitoring.
- Own the AI Security strategy and multi-year roadmap.
- Lead the AI Risk and Governance framework across DigitalOcean and Cloudways.
- Present AI security risk posture and strategic decisions to the CISO, executives, and board-level audiences.
What you'll add
- 15 or more years of cybersecurity experience, including 4–5 years in AI/ML security, adversarial machine learning, or security data science.
- Organizational experience defining and driving AI or security programs and owning strategy.
