Role overview
Evolv's R&D team is seeking an experienced Principal Platform Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and remain hands-on with embedded, real-time, and computer-vision software.
The role focuses on building reliable, scalable software foundations for evolving product families.
The position reports to the VP of Software Engineering and joins a C++ software development team.
Performance outcomes
- Mentor junior developers, review code and architecture, and submit production-quality changes.
- Identify performance bottlenecks or technical debt and contribute to architecture and design discussions.
- Outline a platform strategy that supports scalable, common foundations across products.
- Evaluate CI/CD and build automation and propose improvements.
- Lead the design and implementation of a major multi-product software platform.
- Translate mathematical algorithms into optimized production C++ code.
- Lead performance optimization, technical mentoring, workshops, and coding-standard improvements.
